Frequently asked Questions

Q: What are the main goals of this university?
A: Please, refer to the brochure or University profile on the Internet.

Q: How can I register for courses in the university?
A: Either on-line: you will get full information on the university; its programs, courses, fees, etc. All the steps required for the registration can be done on-line after you make your course selection.
Or, contact the university at (248)213-0001. We will provide you with all the materials necessary for registration (including the “Registration Form”, fill in the form and mail it with your payment by a check or credit card.

Q: How could I contact my instructor(s)?
A: You can use any of these methods:
1. Call him during his published office hours. There are 2 hours or more, every week, during which registered students can contact their instructor.
2. E-mail your instructor.

Q: How do I take the exams, and how is the evaluation?
A: Final exams will be administered through your local MAS chapter Islamic center, by e-mail, or by registered mail.

Q: If I could not complete my BA (136 hours), what can I do?
A: Every Muslim needs to study fiqh of ibadat, fiqh of the Muslim family, da’wa, etc., which are offered through different classes. The individual can study freely (in a non-degree status). He/she will be conferred a completion certificate for each class. Should he/she decide to continue for his/her BA, the credits they obtained can be counted toward his/her degree.

Q: Do I have to pay the Admission or registration fees ($50.00 for undergraduate, $35.00 for non-degree, or @75.00 for graduate) once or with each semester?
A: The admission fee is paid only once, when you first join the university. The $20 registration fees is paid every semester.

Q: Do I have to submit a recommendation letter to join the university?
A: To obtain a degree in Shari’ah or Da’wah to become a Da’iya or Imam among Mulims, you have to be recommended by a known Imam or Da’yah. It is a trust that should be observed.

Q: If I completed some courses in Islamic subjects from another university, can they be counted toward my degree?
A: A special committee will look into your transcripts and your course description, and decides if your courses will be accepted toward our program.

Q: Do you offer scholarships to students in good standing?
A: We work hard to provide such scholarships. If the student shows excellence in his/her course of study, he/she might be eligible for financial aid support or scholarship.

Q: Do the American and Islamic international universities recognize the IAU?
A: No university would be recognized (accredited) when it first starts its programs. However, we are working toward accreditation from:
1- American universities
2- Islamic universities
Praise be to Allah, our programs and highly qualified faculty members (the two bases for accreditation) are a big plus toward accreditation. Our staff includes prominent scholars and scientists, such as Dr. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, Dr. Jamal Badawi, and other professor and deans from prominent Islamic universities and colleges of education.

Q: Do I have to submit a high school diploma to join IAU?
A: The high school diploma is not required for admission at IAU, but it is a must for graduation.

Q: How much would I expect to pay for books, tapes, CD’s, etc?
A: It differs from one course to another. Contact “Student Affairs” office for details at (248) 213-0001(Option 1)
